Abdominal Ulcers have become a common disease these days due to our diet and lifestyle. Ulcers also know as Duodenal ulcers, esophageal ulcers, stomach or peptic ulcers, ulcerative colitis, can form in different areas of the gastrointestinal tract. There are several all natural ulcer remedies that can be used in place of conventional medicines to cure the ulcers.
COMMON CAUSES OF ULCERS
A duodenal ulcer is usually caused by an infection with a bacterium (germ) called H. pylori. Stomach normally produces acid to help with the digestion of food. This acid is corrosive so cells on the inside lining of the stomach and duodenum produce a natural mucous barrier which protects the lining of the stomach and duodenum. There is normally a delicate balance between the amount of acid that you make and the mucus produced. An ulcer may develop if there is an alteration in this balance, allowing the acid to damage the lining of the stomach or duodenum.
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF A DUODENAL ULCER?
Pain in the upper abdomen just below the sternum (breastbone) is the common symptom. It usually comes and goes. It may occur most before meals, or when you are hungry.
Other symptoms which may occur include: bloating, retching, and feeling sick. You may feel particularly full after a meal. Sometimes food makes the pain worse.
ALL NATURAL ULCER REMEDIES
Choose a healthy diet full of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Not eating vitamin-rich foods may make it difficult for your body to heal your ulcer.
If you use pain relievers regularly, ask your doctor whether changing to another alternative may be an option for you.
Stress may worsen the signs and symptoms of a peptic ulcer. Examine your life to determine the sources of your stress and do what you can to address those causes. Some stress is unavoidable, but you can learn to cope with stress with exercise.
Smoking may interfere with the protective lining of the stomach, making your stomach more susceptible to the development of an ulcer. Smoking also increases stomach acid.
Excessive use of alcohol can irritate and erode the mucous lining in your stomach and intestines, causing inflammation and bleeding.
CABBAGE JUICE CURES ULCERS
Studies have shown that cabbage juice cures ulcers in less that ten days, prepare cabbage juice and drink one quarter a day divided in four doses (must be taken immediately after juicing).
The fact is cabbage juice has been well documented in medical literature as having remarkable success in treating ulcers. Dr. Garnett Cheney from Stanford University’s School of Medicine and other researchers performed several studies using fresh cabbage juice. The majority of patients experienced complete healing in as little as seven days. Cabbage juice increases the amount of protective substances that line the intestine. A breakdown in the integrity of this lining is what causes most ulcers.
SLIPPERY ELM AND MARSHMALLOW ROOT ULCER REMEDY
A good herbal combination is that of the powders of slippery elm and marshmallow root, three tablespoons of each, made into a gruel by adding a little water until the desired consistency is formed, A small amount of honey can be added for flavor. This should be eaten three times a day and provides a significant source of nourishment.
ALFALFA TEA, NATURAL ULCER REMEDY

Alfalfa tablets or alfalfa tea is another herbal remedy that many have found to be effective for the treatment of ulcers. The tablets can be taken freely every couple of hours.
CHAMOMILE TEA FOR ULCER TREATMENT WITH “ROLL OVER” TECHNIQUE
Strong chamomile tea is one of the best treatments for ulcers. It is specific for ulcer symptoms which include spasm, inflammation, and ulceration. Often, it not only gives symptomatic relief but actually cures the problem. Use about six to ten heaping tablespoons of dried chamomile flowers steeped for twenty minutes in three cups of boiling water, covered.
It is best taken with the “roll over” technique. Drink one cup and first lie on the back for ten minutes, then turn to the left, then right, and finally, on the stomach-each position lasting about five minutes. This is to enable the strong chamomile tea to affect all the mucosa of the GI tract uniformly. This should be done about three times a day for maximum benefit.
NATURAL ULCER REMEDY WITH RAW VEGETABLE JUICEvegetable juice for kidney flush
Certain raw vegetable juices, especially fresh cabbage juice, has proven to be a very effective treatment for ulcers. This can be combined with a little celery, carrot, or pineapple juice for flavor. An eight-ounce glass of the fresh juice should be taken three times a day. If you do not have a juicer, eating small amounts of raw cabbage leaves throughout the day will also be beneficial.
EGGSHELLS AS A NATURAL REMEDY FOR ULCERS
Eggshells are very rich in calcium and act as an excellent antacid so they alleviate stomach cramps and heal peptic ulcer.
However, do not take excessive amount as it may cause constipation.
Deglycyrrhizinated licorice may stimulate natural defense mechanisms that prevent the occurrence of ulcers by increasing the number of mucus secreting cells in the digestive tract. This improves the quality of mucus, lengthens intestinal cell life and enhances micro-circulation in the gastrointestinal lining
Licorice derivatives have been recommended as a standard support for ulcer sufferers in Europe. Licorice flavored candy does not work for medicinal purposes because It Is mostly made with anise not licorice
Caution: Licorice should not be used during pregnancy nor by persons with diabetes, glaucoma, heart disease, high blood pressure, severe menstrual problems or a history of stroke.
Should not be used on a daily basis for more than seven days in a row, as this can result in high blood pressure in persons with previously normal blood pressure. Extended use can cause high blood pressure. water retention and low potassium levels.
Banana with milk neutralizes the excessive acidity caused due to gastric juices.
SLIPPERY ELM INNER BARK

Herbal tea of calendula, or marshmallow help to soothe the irritated lining of the digestive tract.
FLAX SEEDS ULCER REMEDY
Chew and swallow a teaspoon of flax seeds as they are soothing to the stomach.
COCONUT OIL ULCER REMEDY
Coconut oil kills the bacteria that cause ulcers and gas, but it’s mostly a long-term remedy.
VITAMIN E ULCER REMEDY
300 mg of vitamin E daily effectively treated peptic ulcers of many patients. Patients taking vitamin E also had increased protein repair in their intestinal linings and gained from 1.5 to 3 kg during the study
bananas contain water-soluble polysaccharides, the same compounds found in the anti-ulcer prescription drug Carafate. The sitoindosides in dried, unripe bananas increase mucus in the digestive tract, which provides a strong protective coating to help prevent and heal ulcers. Unripe bananas also promote cell growth in the intestinal tract.
Best ulcer cure results are obtained with banana powder. To make banana powder, peel the bananas and cut them into thin slices. Put them in the sun, an oven, or a food dehydrator, and dry them slowly. When dry, grind them into a fine powder. Mix 2 tablespoons of the powder with 1 tablespoon of honey. Take this mixture three times a day: mid-morning, mid-afternoon, and at bedtime.
HONEY AS A ULCER REMEDY
Two tablespoons a day of natural, unprocessed honey should be about right for most types of honey. When the problem has eased, 1 tablespoon daily will probably be enough.
GARLIC FOR ULCER CAUSED BY BACTERIA
It now appears that garlic can keep levels of the Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacterium in check. (An overgrowth of the H. pylori bacterium can contribute to the development of stomach ulcers.) Researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle discovered that garlic exhibits specific antimicrobial activity against H. pylori without entirely eliminating the strain. The elimination of H. pylori can cause other digestive woes.
CAYENNE PEPPER ULCER REMEDYsore throat remedy
Cayenne pepper is wonderful for healing ulcers as well as dulling the pain. It is a bit strong and may take some getting used to at the outset. Start with one-eighth teaspoon of cayenne pepper in a glass of water twice a day and work up to a quarter-teaspoon. You can also take cayenne capsules that you can get at the health food store. Take three a day immediately after meals.
